Sabah Fest 2006

Themed as 'A Celebration of Sabah's Natural Charms!' The Sabah Fest was launched last night (5/5/06) at the Magellan Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. It showcase Sabah's most spectacular cultural extravaganza of the year, featuring a kaleidoscope of cultural performances, through traditional musical performances, mesmerising dances and colourful costumes.

I was most attracted on the opening performances by a group of young boys and girls aged between 7-11 from Tunas Budaya (dance troupe from Federal Ministry of Tourism (I think) with the choreography by traditional dance instructors from Tourism Malaysia).
The almost 2 hours dance extravanganza was closed with a dance finale (also as exciting as the opening) by Lembaga Kebudayaan Sabah which features a fast beat dance from the Murut community called Magalang and Magunatip. The rest of the dances in between the opening and finale were from various district of Sabah ranging Igal-igal dance of Semporna to Tantagas from Tuaran. They were just average and a bit boring.
